Who am I? A young-old woman living in the Midwest–a transplant from the East.
I did most of my growing up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a city surrounded by a fence, where one needed a pass to be allowed in. Oak Ridge was a production site for the Manhattan Project–the making of the atom bomb–and security was critical. It was an interesting place to grow up–no planes allowed to fly overhead, being surrounded by well educated professionals, and learning that “duck and cover” were more important words to us than for most people in the United States.
We moved to the Washington DC area when I was 13 and my parents remained there until retiring to Florida. I moved several places before landing in the Midwest “for good” in 1998. I’ve a MA from the University of Missouri where I studied a number of years ago.
My passion is nature–in all her guises–and she will be the subject of many of my posts. I could also be characterized as a pacifist, someone interested in spiritual inquiry, a poet, an admirer of Clarissa Pinkola Estés, as well as other interests that might find their way into my posts.
I send my posts into the ethernet in the hope that your life is enriched by reading my words and seeing my pictures. I welcome your thoughts, your comments, your criticisms.
peace, nan
