Welcome to Nan’s World!
My physical world is situated in the middle of Missouri and close to the center of a city of 100,000. My home is surrounded by wilds that belie the size and complexity of this city I call home. In these wilds, there are deer, raccoons, fox, groundhogs, birds, butterflies and many other components of what we term nature. I cherish this spot of land and am nourished by it. Many of my writings will deal with the delights that nature present to me and the joy that gives me.
Since I am in my 70s, there is more to my journey than this place and I will try to deal with that aspect of my life. It has been a long journey–as anyone in their 70s will attest to. Much of the journey has dealt with illness and that, too, will be a part of this blog. Yet, not just illness, but also healing.
Join with me as I remember the past, celebrate the present, and look toward the future. I look forward to having a conversation with you–please add your comments, your thoughts.
peace to you
I look forward to hearing more, Nan. You have much to say.
Although I am not a regular follower of blogs, in this case I want to make an exception. It will be important to me, and I expect deep and challenging and rewarding, to follow what you have to say to us, Dear Nan!
I share the same woods environment with you (although our separate watersheds join together several blocks away, but we have many of the same visitors, 4-footed and winged.) Your descriptions (written and pictorial) of our Natural Order give me great uplift. I hope this present format permits you sharing some of your amazing photos of your various visitors.
In anticipation, -DHF
Nan, is there a way for me to receive your blog entries on my email? I want to stay in touch with you as you travel this new road. I am not a blogger so this is new territoriy for me.
I will be holding thee in the Light.
love,
maurine
Nan, I’m delighted to find your blog. And very sad for the news that brought me to it. You are held, in thought, in the Light, on this journey.
love,
Margaret
Thank you , Margaret. I am surrounded by love and light and am so grateful for that.
While visiting 57th Street Meeting a week ago, I had this message to offer from Meister Eckhert, a 12th century mystic.
Up, noble soul!
Put on thy jumping shoes
which are love and intuition,
Overleap the worship of they mental powers
and leap into the heart of God.
Later I learned that another person had quoted Eckhert
the previous week. Do you think there was an echo in the air?
Yes–the echo of love!
To get in my non-quakerly vote, I vote for a hat lined with sheepskin (sorry about that, sheep of the world) for winter. Whatever is fun and cool looking but warm for trips to the manicurist!
You should ask the manicurist if they can paint cocoons on your orange nails. You’ve got the photos : )
Blessings on your journey, Friend. You are being held in the Light by many.
The question had arisen about how to get new postings via e-mail. Just scroll down on this screen to a box on the lower right that lets you type in your e-mail address, and then a program (invented by Google, I think) called “FeedBurner” takes over. That’s all there is to it!
Another techie note: To get beyond this “Welcome” page, click on the “Blog” tab at the top. And be sure to click on “comments” to see follow-up notes from others. I just LOVE seeing all these love-notes! They’re good for all of us … not just Nan George.
Yours for More Love-Notes, -DHF
You enhance my my daily joy of the natural workd that has been given us and that we can see, with its woodpeckers, racoons, flowers and butterflies. There must be another population active at night that we don’t see in the daylight, because most of the compost I dump on my compost pile during the day disappears during the night–such as moldy bread, dried up carrots, and orange skins. A very literal observation of things seen and unseen.
Youare givning us a good model of how to keep centered whilde not flinching from the unpleasant treatment.
Scott
Dear Nan,
Tonight I read all the entries on your blog, which was recommended to me by our friend David Finke. Thank you for being willing to share your spiritual journey, which is so very moving to me! I am with you in Spirit during this time. May God bless you with the riches of grace every step of your way, and may you be filled with love and peace.

Love, love, LOVE the photo of you and Elly apres hair cut!!!
You mugger, you!
Hugs,
Sherry
And, who was it who encouraged the mugging???????????
Nan, I am now on your blog but I don’t know how to get the most recent thing you said, unless it was the short 2-liner after Sherry’s comment. I hope you are better today. Some of the comments were quite inspirational. Sorry mine wasn’t but I didn’t think I would have the courage to deal with getting on the blog so wasn’t prepared. Take care, love teri
